How to Distribute an AI-Generated Film

Distributing an AI-generated or AI-assisted film requires the same core work as any independent release, plus a more detailed record of authorship, source material, tool terms, consent, and disclosure.

Do not start with a platform list. Start by proving what you can legally offer and who is likely to watch.

Build the rights file

Create an inventory of the script, images, voices, performances, music, sound, fonts, footage, trademarks, and promotional assets. For each one, record:

  • whether it was human-created, licensed, generated, or mixed;
  • the creator or service involved;
  • the applicable license and tool terms;
  • consent for voice, face, or likeness use;
  • the countries, media, duration, and commercial uses allowed;
  • the human selection, arrangement, and modification made afterward.

Read AI-Generated Film, Copyright, and Monetization for the current U.S. Copyright Office position on human authorship. Seek counsel for the law and contracts relevant to your release.

Decide what kind of distribution you need

GoalLikely route
Sell one completed film to people you can reachDirect film storefront
Place the film on third-party servicesAggregator, distributor, or direct platform delivery
Seek a territory or broadcaster dealSales agent or direct licensing outreach
Make the film freely availablePublic video host
Submit private review copiesA dedicated screener service

No route removes the need for rights clearance. Some buyers, insurers, and services may impose their own AI policies or request provenance records.

Prepare a professional delivery package

At minimum, keep a high-quality master, trailer, poster, stills, captions, transcript, synopsis, credits, cue sheet, music documentation, contributor releases, rights summary, and territory restrictions. Check the technical specification of each destination before encoding deliverables.

Describe AI use consistently across submissions and publicity. Avoid labels such as “fully AI-generated” if substantial human writing, acting, design, animation, or editing created the work. Avoid hiding material synthetic performances or replicated voices.

Define the audience and offer

AI is a production fact, not automatically an audience. People may care about the genre, story, craft process, technology, or debate around the work. Identify which group you can reach and what viewing offer makes sense.

For a direct release, state the price, rental or purchase terms, territories, captions, runtime, support, and refund conditions. Use one stable link and measure qualified visits and sales from each channel.

Where TribuShare fits

TribuShare can host a branded film page, checkout, and streaming for a finished film when you hold the necessary rights and already have people to send to it. It does not certify provenance, provide legal clearance, place the film on third-party services, or generate an audience.

The distribution plan is ready when the rights file survives scrutiny, the offer is clear, the delivery package works, and a specific group has a reason to follow the link.
